The magic number for me sadly is 75, and I am somber not because I have anything against Barry Zito but because I wish JRR Tolkien had written The Hobbit during the off-season. Tonight I’m working an anniversary party for the book and I’ll have to sneak glances at my cell phone. Or, really, maybe someone else will know. We get a lot of Giants fans in the store, and sometimes you would never suspect.
We are trying to build a Giants display but found that we are sadly lacking in books about the team. We long ago sold out of the Willie Mays bio and all we have are children’s books: a board book that merrily indoctrinates babies into Giants fandom, and a picture book that boasts you on the cover. I now have to stare at said picture book from the front register where I am routinely stationed. Torture.
I tried to look up Freak Season but found to my bitter disappointment that we can’t order it from our distributor! It’s listed as a Print On Demand book and we rarely ever order those; usually we only do so by customer request. I have to say that I’m surprised it’s only available as Print On Demand, although I am also relieved. Less torture.
