Kalinda is the name of a character
— in a TV show, the world seems real.
Because it’s right there, the immediacy of
it feels important and knowable. I move forward
in my seat, stretch my hand to the screen
— and nothing happens. As in life.
I want to be like Kalinda
though I am not from India,
yet still, that strength, that confidence
her ability to lay
man or woman
drives me to say:
“Kalinda, Kalinda. How I wish you were real.”
who am I?
