Words can't capture how funny this exchange was.
Dave: You turn on the radio every night and listen to Jon and me, right?
Buster: ...absolutely.

"And kids, don’t forget: whenever you get to arbitration, don’t let it get to a hearing."

— Dave Flemming, imagining Jeff Kent giving advice to little leaguers, on KNBR 05.07.11: Giants v. Rockies.

I'm retiring.

So I can sit around listening to ballgames. Fuck the non-baseball world and its House, Senate, red state, blue state.

Tim is speaking to Dave Flemming on KNBR right now.

I’m swooning at Tim’s voice. Fanning myself. And if Mary wasn’t locking herself in her room to steer clear of my ridiculousness, she would point out what is likely a goofy smile on my face. You know, I try to make Baseball 2.0 all literary and shit, but in the end, I’m just a fanboy.

WOOHOO! Six more years of Kruk and Kuip!

However:

The team is not done negotiating with broadcasters.

Though Jon Miller’s contract is not up for renewal, he and the Giants must amend his contract if he is to call more games on radio now that he no longer will be flying away on weekends for ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball.” ESPN elected not to renew his contract after two decades.

More Miller on KNBR is not a slam dunk, however. Other national networks that broadcast major-league games, including TBS, Fox and the MLB Network, have expressed interest in hiring Miller to call games when he is not fulfilling his Giants contract.

Miller’s radio partner, Dave Flemming, also was not up for a contract renewal this year.

There’s no question that Jon Miller will stick around. It’s just a matter of him doing more work on our end since he’s not with ESPN anymore. Also, I would like Flemming to stick around, as well. He is a younger counterpart to the three vets and he has a pleasant broadcast demeanor.
